Speaking: Your Slides != Your Talk

Slides are the supporting structure for your talk, not the main event. Speak the meaty and informative portion of the presentation out loud and use slides as a backdrop to set either the emotional tone or reinforce the message that you are trying to convey.

Hilary Mason

Hilary is a Data Scientist in Residence at Accel Partners. She is also a Scientist Emeritus at bitly, co-founder of HackNY, co-host of DataGotham, and member of NYCResistor.

Previously, Hilary served as Chief Data Scientist for bitly. She also served on Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Technology and Innovation Advisory Council.

Additionally, Hilary currently serves as an advisor to several NY startups including knod.es, collective[i], MortarData as well as DataKind, a non-profit that brings together leading data scientists with high impact social organizations. She has served as a mentor to Betaspring, the Providence Rhode Island-based start up accelerator, and TechStars New York. Hilary earned her BA in Computer Science from Grinnell College.
